The Nomads (‘drama on your doorstep’) have teamed up with Brooklands Radio (the station that is ‘Loving Surrey’) to present… Surrey Showcase
Location: The Nomad Theatre, Bishopsmead Parade, East Horsley, Leatherhead, Surrey KT24 6RT
Date: Saturday 18th August 2018, 11am-11pm
What is it? A one-day event, perfectly packed with performance!
Give me more details… A one-day performing arts event packed with local talent, presented by Brooklands Radio and The Nomad Theatre Group, hosted by The Nomads in East Horsley, Leatherhead, Surrey – on Saturday 18th August 2018.
The brainchild of Annabelle Lawrence (Marketing & Publicity Lead, The Nomads) and James ‘JP’ Pearce (Presenter, Brooklands Radio), Surrey Showcase was created to give performers across Surrey the opportunity to showcase their talent in a professionally designed theatre space.
Quote: “In our beautiful county, we’re very lucky to have so much talent – and as a community, not-for-profit theatre, partnering with Brooklands Radio for this special event will give individual and groups of performers of all ages and from many disciplines, the opportunity to experience the magic of the stage in our ‘hidden gem’ of a theatre.” – Andrew Hamel-Cooke, Chairman – The Nomads
Call To Action: We’re looking for performers in any arts discipline – drama, music, dance, comedy, spoken word… perhaps even circus skills or choirs!
Message: “If you’ve got a talent you’d love to share, apply to perform today. We’ll be allocating spots according to time length & space required in our three performance areas:
Bob’s Busker Spot – in The Bob King Room which is also our bar, you’ll be able to perform in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Just one rule – this isn’t actual busking, so no cash to be taken, please!
The Studio – our intimate enclosed space, perfect for solo pieces, smaller groups or close-up work.
Main Stage – the auditorium has raked seating for 120, a full lighting and sound offering and a fly tower – ideal for bigger acts!
Apply to perform on the website, now! www.surreyshowcase.co.uk”
During the day, Brooklands Radio will broadcast live from the theatre venue. There will be interviews, live performances and recordings which will also be shared after the event. There will be places to eat and drink, socialise and relax, as well as backstage tours to find out more about what The Nomad Theatre has to offer. We’re also working with local businesses to partner on refreshments, parking facilities, places to stay and transport – it’s a community effort! Tickets will be on sale in late May 2018.
