The Lightbox gallery and museum is pleased to announce that the winning entries of this year’s The Lightbox Photographic Open Competition will be exhibited at The Lightbox from 14 October 2017 – 7 January 2018. Entries have been submitted by photography students, professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts alike, all under the theme of ‘Celebration and Anniversary’, in keeping with the ten year anniversary of The Lightbox in 2017.
Taking place in the Upper Gallery, the exhibition will display the winners’ photographs, along with a selection of the best shortlisted entries as chosen by the judges, showcasing the diverse range of styles and talent in photographic artwork currently being produced in the United Kingdom. Offering photographers of all levels the unique opportunity to have their work exhibited at an award-winning gallery and museum, the competition also has a £500 prize for the entry selected as ‘Best in Show’, the Young Photographer’s Prize of £100 for the best entry by a 13-17 year old, and The People’s Prize of £250.
At the Private View on Thursday 19 October 2017, the judges will announce the winners for Best in Show and the Young Photographer’s Prize. Throughout the exhibition, visitors to The Lightbox will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite entry, and the winning artist will be awarded The People’s Prize. This prize will be announced on The Lightbox website and the winner contacted when the exhibition closes.
