L Box

The Lightbox in Woking is more than just a gallery. With comedy, film nights and delicious food available from the brand new Seasons Café and Kitchen there really is something for everyone to enjoy. To make it even easier to appreciate all The Lightbox has to offer The Lightbox is keeping its doors open until 9.30pm every Thursday. Take advantage of the late opening hours and enjoy one of the inspiring exhibitions.

This summer The Lightbox offers a unique opportunity to explore artworks from The Ingram Collection of Modern British Art whilst listening to audio recordings from the Artists’ Lives oral history collection from The British Library. This exhibition will shed new light on the fascinating personal experiences of some of Britain’s greatest artists. ‘In their own words: Artists’ Voices from The Ingram Collection’ will be open from 20 May 2017 to 30 July 2017.

For those who enjoy getting lost in a cinematic adventure, new monthly Film Nights are the perfect way to unwind at the end of the week. Celebrate ‘A Decade of Great British Cinema’ taking place every second Thursday of the month at 8.00pm with a different film from each year from the past decade. Upcoming films include, Woman in Black (2012), The Imitation Game (2014), and Dad’s Army (2016).

At every Thursday Late, Seasons Café and Kitchen will be open serving a special Mediterranean influenced tapas menu from 5.00pm. For just £18.50 you can enjoy a selection of four different Spanish favourites such as spicy Patatas Bravas, mouth-watering Pincho Moruno Chicken Skewers, or the flavour-packed Chorizo & Roasted Pepper Risotto. Seasons are also known for their delicious and refreshing cocktails. Why not make a night of it and enjoy a thirst quenching Mojito or a classic Gin Fizz for just £6.

If comedy is more your thing the ever-popular stand-up comedy nights continue on the last Thursday of every month at 8.00pm, featuring the best up-and-coming and established acts on the stand-up circuit. This June laugh the night away with comedian Ben Van der Velde who is said to be “whipsharp… with an air of mischievous mayhem” by Steve Bennett from Chortle. In July enjoy even more laughs from Suzi Ruffell, star of Live at the Comedy Store, Virtually Famous, Edinburgh Comedy Fest Live, and hit BBC sitcom Josh.
